It’s not unusual to see your child get tired after a busy day. But when your child seems unusually irritable and consistently fatigued, it may mean something more serious. The challenge falls to parents to distinguish between normal “tiredness” and a signal of a deeper issue that demands more attention.

In 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted a study that found that 3.5% of children aged 5 to 11 years and 10.9% of kids aged 12 to 17 years feel tired every day or most days. If you’re one of the parents who believe their kids are part of that percentage, addressing it immediately is the best move.

While tiredness is normal in children, with growth spurts and busy school schedules, it’s a completely different issue when it becomes long-term and ongoing. If your child’s tiredness doesn’t go away after a restful sleep, it may point to underlying nutrient gaps you should never ignore.

What Does A Child’s Normal “Tiredness” Look Like

Normal “tiredness” refers to the kind of fatigue that goes away after a good night’s sleep. It may be caused by one or several of the following:

Heavy physical activities

Growth spurts

Full-packed school schedule

Emotional and mental stress

If your child stayed up late or had poor sleep quality, it can also lead to tiredness the next day. Irregular bedtimes and inconsistent routines disrupt a child’s restorative sleep. Make sure your children get enough sleep (9 to 12 hours for kids under 12 and 8 to 10 hours for teens).

Common Nutrient Gaps Linked to “Tiredness” in Kids

If it’s not “normal” tiredness experienced by your child, it may be a nutrient gap. This refers to the differences between the nutrients your child is consuming and what’s needed. Children show this nutritional deficiency through fatigue and constant tiredness.

Iron deficiency tops the list of leading nutritional causes of low energy and tiredness in children. Iron in the body is responsible for red blood cell production and the transport of oxygen throughout the body. When a child doesn’t have enough iron in the body, she becomes uninterested in daily activities, feels unusually tired, and experiences lethargy.

Besides iron deficiency, consistent tiredness may also be a sign of low vitamin D and B12 levels in the body. Make sure that your child doesn’t miss out on the important nutrients that a growing body needs. Recognizing the early signs of this nutrient gap will help prevent future health issues.

More Than Normal “Tiredness”: Red Flags to Watch For

How do you know if you need to pay more attention to your child’s tiredness? Before making any assumption, it’s best to ask experts in the medical field. Set up a schedule with your physician if you observe the following red flags:

Feels fatigued even after 10 to 12 hours of sleep for children younger than 12 years and 8 to 10 hours of sleep for teens

Changes in appetite and behavior

Frequent headaches, shortness of breath, and dizziness

Poor concentration

Dark circles under the eyes and pale skin

All of these signs may mean your child’s tiredness is not normal. Check whether the tiredness doesn’t go away after a good night’s rest and after swapping to better habits every morning. If the tiredness persists, it’s time to do something about it to prevent it from worsening.

Bridging Your Child’s Nutrient Gaps

The key to addressing your child’s fatigue and unusual tiredness is to bridge the nutrient gap. Here are the steps to take if you want to guarantee success in correcting micronutrient shortfalls in your child.

Take Your Child to a Physician

It’s important to take your child to the doctor after one to two weeks of consistent fatigue. Ask your physician to conduct the following observations and examinations:

A thorough assessment of the history of fatigue and possible causes of your child’s tiredness, such as:

Sleeping habits

Activities that can cause anxiety or stress

Packed daily schedule

Meticulous physical examination (Pay attention to your child’s growth and development)

Necessary laboratory tests needed depending on your child’s symptoms, including but not limited to the following:

Blood tests

Imaging

MRIs

Urine tests

X-rays

Take into account the possibility of needing the help of a mental health professional.

While your child’s unusual tiredness may be nothing serious, it’s better to be on the safe side. Ask your physician’s opinion to ease your worries and help you know the next steps to take.

Help Your Child Feel More Energized

The good thing about most cases of fatigue in children is that, as parents, there are things you can do to help them. One of the most effective solutions is to improve your child’s lifestyle to be healthier. Consider the following changes:

Set Up Consistent Bedtimes: Establish routines for every morning and night, and set specific wake-up and sleeping times to promote restful sleep.

Introduce Well-Balanced Meals: Bridge your child’s dietary gap by including foods rich in the nutrients they’re lacking. For iron, add lean meats, leafy greens, and beans. For vitamins B12 and D, consider serving fatty salmon, eggs, and fortified dairy products.

Reduce Screen Time: Keep your child away from smartphones and other screens, especially at night, for better melatonin production.

Encourage and Promote Physical Activity: Go outdoors for exercise and some sunlight exposure to improve energy and sleep quality.

Talk to your child when making these changes. Include them in your plans and ask for their opinions as you make them.

Consider Giving Your Child a Health Supplement

Bridge your child’s dietary gaps by considering giving them supplements. Dietary supplements can improve one’s overall well-being and help your child get the nutrients they lack. Consider getting Neupril Kids Methylfolate to promote restful sleep and boost your child’s energy.

Key Takeaways:

Flossing doesn’t just improve your oral health but also your overall health.

Just because you can’t see the effects of daily flossing immediately doesn’t mean that it’s not effective.

Flossing reduces the amount of bacteria that can cause gum disease, but it’s also linked to a reduction in cardiovascular disease and inflammation throughout the body.

Don’t hesitate to add regular flossing to your oral care routine because you’ll reap the benefits years from now.

Flossed lately? Most people reading this probably haven’t. Only a select percentage (30%, to be exact) flosses daily. Most might find flossing unrewarding. But that’s the point. It’s not supposed to reward you instantly. It’s something that, in the long term, will benefit you immensely.

Flossing = Not Pointless At All

Are you getting instant, visible results with flossing? Probably not. But you don’t expect to eat healthily and lose ten pounds the next day either. So don’t expect whiter teeth the day after you floss. And to be honest, your gums might even bleed at first (which is confusing). But the early bleeding is a sign of existing inflammation. Floss regularly, and you see these gums slowly heal.

So the fact that you don’t see results instantly doesn’t actually mean nothing is happening. Changes are microscopic, but they’re definitely happening!

Read: 7 Simple Swaps To Make Every Morning Better

What Flossing Actually Does Between Your Teeth

Toothbrush bristles simply can’t reach the tight spaces where teeth touch. In those gaps, plaque builds up undisturbed, feeding on sugars and releasing acids that erode enamel and irritate gums. Floss slides into these spaces, breaking up the biofilm and disrupting bacterial colonies before they harden into tartar.

Clinical studies in adults have found that people who floss for oral health have less gum inflammation and fewer cavities. They end up keeping more of their natural teeth over time than non-flossers. You might not see a difference, but dentists can see it clearly in reduced redness, shallower gum pockets, and less bleeding.

Tiny Daily Effort, Big Long-Term Gum Benefits

Gum disease, contrary to popular belief, doesn’t really explode overnight. It creeps in slowly. First comes gingivitis (red, swollen, bleeding gums). This is reversible. If plaque is left for months or years, it evolves to periodontitis. Bone around the teeth is destroyed, and teeth loosen.

And what does the research say? Regular cleaning between the teeth helps reduce signs of gingivitis when added to brushing. It quietly dials down inflammation from day 1. It protects the foundation that holds your teeth together.

Flossing and Overall Health? The Link, Explained

Who would have ever thought that your gums are connected to your bloodstream? But when they’re chronically inflamed, bacteria and other microbial products enter circulation. They end up contributing to larger health issues.

Studies show, on the other hand, that people who floss are less likely to have advanced gum disease, lose fewer teeth, and have less risk of other problems, like cardiovascular events.

Flossing isn’t a magic shield against heart disease or stroke. But it reduces one ongoing source of inflammation, infected gum tissue, that your immune system would otherwise be battling constantly.

Why “No Obvious Change” Can Still Mean Real

Protection

Think of flossing like wearing sunscreen or eating a balanced diet. You don’t notice a different face or body tomorrow, but you’re preventing damage that would only show up years later. With flossing, it’s the “non-event” that matters. You reduce the chances of:

Developing deep gum pockets.

Needing as many fillings between teeth.

Losing teeth prematurely.

Data shows that regular flossers have less periodontal disease, fewer coronal cavities, and retain more teeth over a five-year period than non-flossers.

Making Flossing Easier and More Realistic

Part of why people don’t floss is that traditional string floss feels fiddly and time-consuming. The good news? The principle is “clean between your teeth,” not “you must use one specific tool.” Dentists and researchers increasingly support alternatives like floss picks, interdental brushes, and water flossers.

Start with just one area (front teeth or back teeth) each night. Expand as it becomes routine.

Floss at the time of day you have the most energy.

Use pre-threaded flossers or interdental brushes if string floss frustrates you. Imperfect but consistent beats perfect but rare.

What to Expect When You Start (or Restart)

If you haven’t flossed in a while, it’s normal to see:

Mild bleeding for a week or two

Slight soreness in the gums

A cleaner feeling between teeth after a few days.

As the inflammation goes down, bleeding will diminish. Your gums will tighten around your teeth. Dentists see improvements in gum scores within a few months in patients who add daily flossing, even if the patient feels like nothing has changed.

The Bottom Line: Flossing is Working, Even When You Can’t See It

Skipping floss because you don’t see a payoff is like canceling your retirement savings because your balance didn’t double in a month.

The benefits aren’t all that apparent. And they’re not visible to the naked (untrained) eye. Longer term, though: less gum disease and fewer cavities. More of your natural teeth. Potentially lower inflammation. Use nano-hydroxyapatite floss, as it’s more effective both short-term and long-term. You might not get that dramatic before-and-after photo from flossing. But the odds are being stacked (in your favor). Better oral health with flossing? Start today!

If you’re not a morning person and you want to turn the day around, you’re in the right place. We’re here with 7 swaps to make your morning better, from what to do when you wake up right through to your breakfast, to reduce stress and set your body up for the rest of the day! When you wake up with the mindset that today will be a good day, and you head out the door looking for positives, then it can really transform your whole day.

Make Your Bed

This first one might seem simple, but one of the best things you can do when you wake up is to make your bed. This is such an easy win and it creates a clean slate for the day, helping to boost productivity. A tidier environment can also reduce stress and set you up for more positive habits throughout the rest of the day. By getting one thing in order and making your space more relaxing, it can set your day up right. Plus, it will feel much more inviting and relaxing in the evening!

Read: The Art of Accessorising: Simple Tips to Elevate Any Outfit

No Screens For First Hour

Something else you should do is to avoid screens for the first hour when you wake up. Get yourself an alarm clock beside your bed and keep your phone shut away in a drawer. This helps to regulate your brain’s dopamine levels, as if you go straight on your phone when you wake up, the blue light can cause overstimulation. A digital detox is so important, so for your mental health and wellbeing, the best thing you can do is avoid screens for the first hour of the day. You’ll feel more alert for the rest of the day.

Get Out For A Walk First Thing

A great way for you to avoid screens as well as benefitting your health is to get out for a walk first thing. Put an outfit out ready the night before, then as soon as you get up, head out for a walk. Moving your body in a less intense way in the morning helps to boost energy, reduce stress, regulate sleep and set a positive tone for the day. Plus, the fresh air is so refreshing and will help to wake you up. If you wake up late, quickly get ready and shoot out the door, you’ll likely feel sluggish. Whereas when you have a walk, you’re starting your day off right.

Eat A High Protein Breakfast

Swapping your breakfast can completely transform your whole day, not just your morning! If you reach for a breakfast like a sugary cereal or a single piece of toast, you may feel good temporarily, but you’ll likely experience an energy dip mid way through the morning as your blood sugar will spike and then fall. Whereas if you prioritise a high protein breakfast, it can keep you feeling full all morning, stabilise blood sugar, reduce cravings, support muscle health and prevent energy slumps.

You’ll feel so much better for it, so this is an important change. There are so many ways to increase your protein intake at breakfast, such as with eggs, chicken sausages or protein pancakes. If you don’t have time to cook in the morning, then a Greek yogurt bowl with granola and fruit is a good alternative, or add a scoop of protein to your morning overnight oats.

Drink A Glass Of Water

As soon as you wake up, drink a glass of water. Hydration is so important for the body, and drinking it first thing in the morning helps to kickstart digestion, rehydrate after hours without fluids, flush toxins and increase mental clarity. If you’re heading out on your morning walk, fill up a bottle of water and leave it with your walking outfit the night before, then you can just grab and go. This will help to wake you up and hydrate your body for the day ahead!

Pick Out Your Outfit The Night Before

Something else that can make your morning that bit easier is to pick out your outfit for work or whatever it is you’re doing. The last thing you want is to increase stress in any way in the morning, and if you’re running around desperately trying to find an outfit, then it’s going to cause avoidable stress. Instead, get your outfit out then you can just get up and put it on in the morning! If you’re doing your morning walk, lay this out, then also your outfit for the rest of the day. You should also pack your bag if you’re taking one with you. This simple change can make you feel so much more put together in the morning.

Upgrade Your Home Coffee Setup

Last but not least, you should upgrade your home coffee setup. Once you’re back from your morning walk, and you’re starting work from home or heading out the door, having a fresh cup of coffee that is cafe standard can really transform your day. Not to mention, whilst it’s expensive for the initial setup, you’ll save so much money throughout the rest of the year! There are plenty of options for good espresso machines and electric coffee grinders to get you started, like Ascaso espresso machines from Earl Coffee as a fantastic starting point. This will save you money and help to brighten every morning, so well worth it overall!

Accessorising is what separates an ‘okay’ outfit from a memorable, polished and personal style statement. While clothing forms the foundation of your look, accessories are the finishing touches that express mood, personality and creativity. Whether you love bold jewellery, minimalist staples, or playful accents, learning how to use accessories intentionally and transform even the simplest outfit into something special. Here are simple, practical tips to elevate any look with ease and confidence.

Start with your style intention

Before choosing your accessories, you need to decide on the style that you would like to communicate. Some may want to appear bold and expressive. Others may want to seem soft and feminine, and some want to be sleek and professional. What you want to express acts as a guide, ensuring your accessories reflect your intentions rather than oppose or overwhelm.

For example, a statement necklace can add personality to a simple dress, whilst delicate jewellery may align better with more minimalist or elegant vibes. When you know your desired effect, accessorising becomes far more intuitive.

Read: The 5-Minute Face: Barely-There Beauty

Choose a statement piece

One of the simplest ways to elevate outfits is by choosing one standout accessory and building your look around it. This statement piece can start to become part of your identity and a signifier of your personality if you choose to wear it often. This could include:

A chunky necklace

Oversized earrings

A vibrant scarf

A pattered handbag

Bold shoes

A statement hat

The key is to allow that statement piece to take centre stage. If your earrings are doing that talking, maybe keep your necklace more subtle or even skip entirely. However, this is just a guide; if you prefer more of a bold or maximalist look, then adding as many accessories as possible may be a great addition to your look.

Master the power of layering

Layering is an art form that instantly adds depth and personality to an outfit. Think of it as styling in three dimensions. Whether it’s laying jewellery or belts, it’s an easy way to add personality and uniqueness to an outfit.

Layering necklaces

Layering belts for the summer or festive season can be a great way to upgrade a simple outfit while being practical. Opt for mixing different styles from leather to chain belts, but ensure that the metals of the belts match your chosen jewellery for a cohesive look.

Stacking bracelets

Combine bangles, cuffs, and delicate chains for a curated wrist stack. Aim for a balanced mix; too many bulky pieces can feel heavy and can become impractical for most people.

Layering rings

Mix simple bands with a few statement rings to achieve an effective layered ring stack. Use varied textures and thickness, keeping the look interesting but cohesive.

Layering works best when balanced. If you’re stacking necklaces, keep your earrings simpler to avoid competing elements.

Balanced proportions for a harmonious look

Accessories should complement your overall silhouette, not fight with it. Consider the proportions of both your outfit and your body.

High necklines pair well with statement earrings instead of necklaces.

V-neck tops guide the eye naturally towards pendant necklaces.

Chunky footwear needs grounding from another bold element, like an oversized bag.

Petite frames often shine with more accurate jewellery, though one statement piece can still work beautifully.

Think of accessorising like framing a picture; the proportions matter.

Don’t forget the power of bags and shoes

Many people focus solely on jewellery, but bags and shoes are some of the most impactful accessories you can use. They anchor your outfit and set its tone. For example, a simple tote bag can give off a casual vibe, whereas a sleek baguette bag can show sophistication

A structured handbag instantly makes an outfit feel more sophisticated.

Colourful or patterned shoes elevate a simple look effortlessly.

Classic white trainers can soften a smart outfit for a modern age.

Heeled boots add polish to casual pieces like jeans and jumpers.

When shoes and bags work together, even minimalist outfits look intentional and stylish.

Get accessorising!

Accessorising is not about piling on pieces; it’s about choosing items with intention and creativity. Whether you prefer minimalist touches such as titanium jewelry or bold statements, the right accessories can transform any outfit from ordinary to unforgettable. With thoughtful balance, colour, proportion and personality, you can master the art of accessorising and elevate your everyday style with ease.

A perfect smile is compelling. It affects your whole self-image wherever you go. It certainly affects your confidence and how others perceive you. Many people are dissatisfied with their teeth due to minor issues, such as gaps.

If a gap has ever been the reason for hiding your smile, then you might have thought about cosmetic dentistry. Dental veneers provide an easy way to mend any superficial issues with your teeth. Veneers are a simple treatment with several steps.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are used to cover up cosmetic issues, such as cracks, stains, and chips. They are custom-made shells that fit over the front surfaces of your teeth. You can get several types of veneers, depending on your needs. They work on fixing the following.

Gaps between teeth. Even a small space can have a tangible impact on your confidence.

You have chipped teeth.

You have stained teeth.

You have crooked or misaligned teeth.

Read: The 5-Minute Face: Barely-There Beauty

A Step-by-step Process to Have the Perfect Smile

Veneers usually require a few visits to your dentist. Here is what the process looks like during the different phases.

The Initial Consultation

First, you have to discuss your situation with a dentist. You have to find someone who offers cosmetic dentistry services. This is when you talk about your goals and any concerns you may have. Your dentist will examine your teeth to determine whether veneers are a good option for you. They will take X-rays and dental impressions.

At this appointment, the dentist will explain the different types of veneers that are available and the materials they are made from. They will also talk to you about the cost and go over the treatment plan as a whole. This is the point to ask any questions you have.

The Preparation Appointment

If you’ve arrived at this point, you’ve likely decided to move forward with veneers. The next appointment will involve preparing your teeth. Your dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the front surface of the teeth that the veneers will be bonded to.

This is to ensure your teeth look natural and that the veneer is stable in your mouth. After the dentist removes the enamel, they will make another impression of your teeth.

This impression is sent to a dental lab, where the veneers will be fabricated, usually within 2 to 4 weeks. Your dentist may attach temporary veneers to protect your teeth in the meantime.

The Placement Appointment

Once your veneers are ready, you’ll come to the dental office to have them placed. First, the dentist will check them for proper fit and color. The dentist may trim the edge of the veneer to remove any remaining imperfections.

Your dentist then cleans and polishes your teeth. They will also roughen the tooth surface slightly to let the veneer adhere strongly. Cement is then applied to the veneer, which they will carefully place on your tooth. At this point, your bite is checked, and any final adjustments are made.

Although they may feel unnatural at first, most patients find they can easily get used to having veneers.

Ways to Prolong the Life of Your Veneers

The following points will help your veneers last as long as possible:

Good Hygiene

Continue brushing and flossing your teeth as you usually do. It’s essential, since if you have cavities or gum issues, that could reduce the lifespan of the veneer. During your regular dental checkup, you can ask for more advice on habits for caring for your veneers.

Eat With Caution

While veneers are strong, they can be damaged if you don’t take sensible precautions. Avoid biting into anything really hard, like ice or nuts. And don’t try to use them to bite off a bottle cap.

Protect Your Teeth

A good policy is to treat veneers as if they were your natural teeth. Use a mouthguard while playing sports or engaging in any activity that could injure your mouth. If you grind your teeth at night, get a custom-fitting night guard.

Get a New Look and More Confidence

Veneers offer a solution for people with dental issues that affect their self-image. With the proper care, there’s no reason you can’t get at least ten years of use from your veneers. It all comes down to how careful you are once they’re placed. Maintain good oral practices and visit the dentist regularly. During a regular dental checkup, any issues will be caught promptly, so you can keep smiling!

We all love the thought of looking fresh and put together, whilst also letting our natural beauty shine through. However, often in between rushing to work or school, it’s hard to find the time to do a natural make up look, that also makes you look like you’ve had 10 hours of sleep the night before. Therefore this 5-minute barely-there routine (and yes, it’s actually 5 minutes!), lets your natural beauty shine through, whilst also saving time on those busy mornings. No more choosing between make up or breakfast, you can be ready for the day, with a full stomach and a full face of natural make up.

Step 1- Start with skincare

Skincare may be one of the most important steps on a no-makeup, make up routine. By giving yourself a dewy and smooth base to start with, it makes the rest of your routine 10 times easier and can really make it look like you’re glowing from within. After all, there’s no need for a foundation when you are starting with a great foundation – moisturizer and glowy skin.

So, how do you achieve this? All you need is 3 products: a cleanser, a moisturizer and vaseline.

Cleanse – Firstly, with a non-scented cleanser and a soft wash cloth, gently wash your face and then pat it dry with a clean paper towel. This step is key, as it is important not to agitate the skin before makeup application

Moisturise – Next moisturise your face, ensuring that you don’t forget your neck and eyelids. It is key to find a moisturiser that fits your skin type, for example a rich moisturiser for dry skin, and also to ensure that your moisturizer has SPF in it to protect you from the sun all day!

Vaseline – Although an uncommon step in most people’s skin care routine, you would be surprised at the great effects that vaseline can have on your skin, to lock in moisture and get that glowy look. Apply vaseline to your lips, a very thin layer top under your eyes to keep them moisturized throughout the day and a small amount to your eyebrows to act as eyebrow gel.

Now you’re all ready for the next step, make up!

Read: The Benefits of Scalp Massage Techniques and Tools for Hair Growth

Step 2 – The base

The aim of the base is to let your natural skin shine though, for that authentic no-make up, make up look and you can do this though the use of liquid and cream products.

Skin tint or concealer – The best and most natural way to get an even but natural base, is to opt for either a skin tint or concealer. If your main concern is to even out your complexion, a skin tint applied by first warming it up in your palm and then applying a thin layer to your face, is the best option for you. Alternatively, if your main concern is dark circles and blemishes, then a light weight concealer is perfect for you, applied by tapping it into problem areas with your fingers.

Liquid or cream blush – The best way to introduce a glow that looks like it’s coming from within, is to apply a pinky liquid or cream blush. The best way to do this is to use your fingers to apply blush to the top part of your cheeks and blend upwards. If you want a stronger effect, then these types of blushes are completely buildable, so it’s all up to you!

Step three – The extras

After you’ve perfected your base, a few extra touches can really upgrade your routine and enhance your natural features.

Mascara – The best way to create a dramatic effect in a short amount of time, is to open up and enhance your eyes with a mascara. If you want a very natural effect, you can opt for a brown mascara, or if you have darker features a black mascara. To get the most natural effect, apply a thin coat to the end of your lashes.

Lip gloss – Without changing the colour of your lips, a clear lip gloss can add a shine to your lips, making them look moisturised and fresh. This step is quick but effective and can help you feel naturally confident.

Try it yourself

Now that you have your 5 minute natural make up look for those busy days, it’s time to try it out for yourself. If you want to make any switches to make it personal to you, or enhance features that are important to you, such as swapping liquid blush for a cream bronzer, then you can. The important thing is, that you feel that your natural self is glowing through and ready to face anything the day throws at you.

Hippocrates once said, “The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and a scented massage every day.” Of course, it’s not always possible to enjoy a daily spa-like experience in today’s busy world, but the point remains: Self-care directly impacts your well-being.

Regular scalp massage is so much more than a way to unwind. Research has shown that scalp massage can physically stimulate hair growth in a number of ways. And when you factor in the mind-body connection, you really start to understand the logic behind this phenomenon.

A Brief Look at the Research

In one scientific study, nine healthy men had their scalps massaged with a scalp massage device for four minutes every day over a period of six months. By the end of the study, the results showed that the participants’ hair thickness had increased.

In another research study, 340 participants with androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness) were instructed on how to perform scalp massages for 11–20 minutes, twice per day. After approximately seven months, 68.9% reported hair loss stabilization or regrowth.

Long story short: Scalp massage works! Let’s explore why.

1. Stress Management Supports Healthy Hair Growth

The simple act of applying pressure to the body can work wonders for alleviating stress. Stress doesn’t only take a toll on our mental and emotional health; it directly affects our physical well-being too. Countless studies have shown that stress can manifest as health conditions.

In the context of hair loss, stress can cause hormonal imbalances that disrupt the hair growth cycle. Below are two examples of what that can look like.

Example 1: Cortisol

When a stressful event occurs, our cortisol levels rise rapidly, triggering a “fight-or-flight” response. That’s why cortisol is often referred to as the “stress hormone.”

When the body is in fight-or-flight mode, it prepares for potential danger in a number of ways, such as enhancing focus and delivering a boost of energy. The body diverts resources to the most critical biological processes. Hair growth isn’t required for survival, so the hair growth cycle pauses until the “danger” has passed.

Therefore, if chronic stress isn’t managed properly, the corresponding high cortisol levels can lead to hair loss.

Whether you take steps to achieve a better work-life balance or pick up yoga or meditation, being proactive about stress management can prevent hair loss and help you live a happier, healthier life overall.

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.” – Chinese proverb

Example 2: Melatonin

Chronic stress can cause sleeping problems. Melatonin is a hormone that plays a critical role in signaling the body that it’s time to sleep. It has also been shown to extend how long the growth (anagen) stage of the hair growth cycle lasts.

Our bodies produce significant amounts of melatonin while we slumber. If you’re not getting enough quality sleep, the lack of melatonin can decrease the length of the growth stage of the hair growth cycle, eventually causing hair loss.

In addition to disrupting the hair growth cycle, poor sleep impacts your overall health, making it difficult for your body to perform at its highest capacity, including growing hair. Don’t underestimate the importance of getting enough rest as a core part of your long-term wellness plan.

“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.” – Irish proverb

Read: 10 Common Healthcare Mistakes and How Patients Can Avoid Them

2. Improving Circulation Feeds Your Follicles

In order for hair to grow, the follicles need to receive a steady supply of nutrients and oxygen via the bloodstream. Massaging the scalp relaxes the blood vessels and stimulates blood flow, naturally allowing adequate supplies of nutrients and oxygen to reach the follicles.

The follicles use nutrients and oxygen as fuel to produce the energy required for cell division, a process that forms hair cells which eventually turn into keratin, the protein that makes up hair.

3. Scalp Massage Can Awaken Dormant Follicles

The resting (telogen) stage of the hair growth cycle is when hair follicles take a break after working hard to grow hair. They typically go dormant for around three months. Although approximately 90% of hair follicles are in the growth stage at any given moment, dormant follicles don’t grow new hair.

Scientific research suggests that directly stimulating hair follicles can reactivate dormant follicles, essentially sending them back into action.

Besides scalp massage, research suggests that stimulating follicles in other ways, such as using low-level laser light therapy (LLLT), platelet-rich plasma, minoxidil, and various herbs and supplements, may also support hair growth in similar ways.

4. Massage Techniques & Tools Can Unblock Follicles

Over time, body oils, dead skin cells, and leftover hair product residue can clog hair-producing follicles, inhibiting the natural growth cycle.

Massage tools and techniques that focus on exfoliation can remove blockages that prevent hair from growing, especially when used in conjunction with exfoliating products that contain abrasives like salt or charcoal.

Many massage tools can be used without the aid of another person. For example, silicone-bristled scalp brushes can be used while showering. Wire-pronged scalp massagers can also help with exfoliation.

5. Massage Supports the Body’s Healing Processes

Massage can help the body heal by improving circulation, flushing out waste, restoring hormonal balance, alleviating stress, and relieving pressure and tension, just to name a few. Massage is part of a holistic approach that focuses on how the entire body is connected together, including the mind.

For example, when you have chronic inflammation, your body prioritizes energy and other resources to heal. That means there’s less energy and resources to support hair growth. When your body is functioning optimally, it’s able to recover quickly and refocus on non-essential processes like hair growth.

Take Steps to Support Healthy Hair Growth

Hair loss is often reversible through regular massage, laser hair restoration treatments, supplementation, topical medications, and lifestyle changes. Talk to a healthcare professional about your options. Taking proactive steps today can ensure that you have a healthy head of hair tomorrow. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Even in the best hospitals, mistakes are made. This can be anything from miscommunication to missed diagnosis. Even as subtle as misprescribing can occur. At the end of the day, human error is natural, but although this is common, extra care must be taken with nurses and doctors. That being said, a patient can also make an error in some instances. As long as you understand the common pitfalls, these can be avoided and therefore, take care of your own health. So, here are the top 10 most common mistakes in healthcare and how you can avoid them.

Miscommunication Between The Doctor and The Patient

One of the first mistakes is a common error from the patient when they are communicating their issues to the doctor. The doctor will often ask what the symptoms are, and in some cases, this can cause the patient to report their symptoms incorrectly or forget them. The best way to avoid this would be to keep a symptom diary. Making notes of the pain that you feel, when you feel it, and other issues you may have is essential, especially when the doctor is asking what your symptoms are.

Avoiding Second Opinions

Another mistake is that people tend to avoid other opinions. Sometimes, patients will accept their doctor’s diagnosis and treat it as gospel, although that shouldn’t be the case, especially when the issue is still apparent. The best thing to do here is that if the cure or solution hasn’t been found, the patient should seek another opinion. There is no harm in going to another doctor if possible to seek additional medical assistance and see if they reiterate what the other doctor said.

Not Following Up On Results

Just because you haven’t heard from the doctor doesn’t necessarily mean you are in the clear. Sometimes, a follow-up can be forgotten, which is obviously very bad, but there may have also been a technical error. Maybe the wrong phone number or contact details were recorded or filled in incorrectly. All of these can lead to you not receiving your results, so it is certainly something that is worth chasing. Message or ring them to ensure you get the results confirmed and get a copy of the results shared with you.

Medication Errors

This is also very common in the medical industry because of natural human mistakes. These types of errors can lead to incorrect dosage, confusion between brands, generic or missed allergies. In this instance, the patient needs to check what they have been prescribed, including checking the dosage. Additionally, it is worth keeping a medication list and consulting with your pharmacist to ensure that you are taking the correct medication.

Ignoring Gut Feelings

Having a gut feeling about something is common, especially when it comes to your health. If you think something is incorrect, then question your doctor and ask other doctors for their opinion. Get clarification on why you are being given a certain medication and why you are feeling certain symptoms when taking a certain medication.

Incomplete Medical History

Another common mistake in healthcare is an incomplete medical history. This could be anything, such as previous treatments, previous health conditions and family history. That is why it is important to keep up with your medical history, as well as keep records of your family members.

Overlooking Preventive Care

Up next is avoiding preventive care. This can be regular screenings, checkups or even regular vaccinations. Missing these can cause further health problems, and that wouldn’t be on the healthcare system; that would be more on the patient. It is something that can be easily avoided as long as the patient goes.

Read: How to Wear Bold Colors

Poor Record-Keeping

Another common mistake is poor record-keeping, and this can be anything, such as on a patient’s medical documents, the test results, and treatments. To ensure everything is recorded correctly, create your own personal health file to keep a record of your medical history, previous test results and what treatments you have.

In some cases, it can be missed that a patient is diabetic. It is vital that the doctor knows about this because they won’t be able to prescribe certain medications, as they can affect blood sugar levels. The last thing you want is to be travelling with diabetes and then taking medication that negatively affects your blood sugar levels.

Accepting Rushed Appointments

We all know that the healthcare industry is extremely busy, and therefore, doctors can tend to rush appointments. This is because they are either running late or they have an extremely busy day booked in. However, that doesn’t mean they should reduce their duty of care to you. Make sure you have questions that get answered to ensure there are no issues with your health.

Summary

There are many reasons why a mistake can happen, but they can also be avoided if the patient is more aware. It is essential as a patient that you keep records of your medical history to reduce any errors in this. Then ensure you have a copy so you can show it to your doctor in the future. It is important that you are proactive and you always ask questions if you are ever unsure about what they are telling you. If you ever think that you have been neglected during your care, then it is also worth bringing this up with medical negligence solicitors, as you can be compensated.

Getting dressed is a great way to tell the world about your personality. Bold colors can tell the world that you’re friendly, approachable, and a joy to be around. They can also brighten your mood and make you feel more ready to take on the day. But we also know bold colors can be intimidating, but don’t run away into a pile of neutral colored clothing just yet! We are here to give you our favorite tips for wearing bold colors that will have you reaching for something bright and beautiful every single day.

Trust Your Eye

Our first, and probably most important tip, is to trust your eye. If you gravitate towards a certain color or pattern, you can make it work! Sometimes all you need is a slight shade adjustment or another cut of garment to make the outfit sparkle on you. The number one thing that will sell an outfit is confidence, so trust what your gut is telling you!

And as for the tweaks, here is what we suggest:

Try a Pattern

Like a bold color but want to figure out a more seamless way to work it into your wardrobe? Patterns are a great way to get more color into your wardrobe in a way that works with existing solid neutral pieces. Look for brands that balance a bold and neutral palette in their designs to create universally flattering patterns.

Explore Every Shade

Ever absolutely loved a color on the rack and hated how it looked on you? You’re not alone; so many people will grab a garment in a certain color only to hate how it looks on them and then unfairly swear off that color forever. But you don’t have to! The beautiful thing about bold colors is that they come in all different shades. We are strong believers that every color can work for every person as long as they find their perfect shade. Later, we’ll cover ‘color season theory’ to help you better understand the palette that will make you look and feel your best.

Often our gut knows what works and what doesn’t. Trust it! At the end of the day, the only opinion that should truly matter is your own.

Read: 4 Shortcuts To Make A Vegan Diet More Accessible!

Color Season Theory

We’ve all seen it on TikTok; color season theory is absolutely everywhere. Everyone is trying to figure out if they’re a spring, summer, autumn, or winter.

So, how do you find out your color season? Here is our quick guide:

1. Determine Undertone Temperature

Generally, skin undertone can be determined on a scale from cool to warm. Cool, meaning you have a pink-ish undertone to your skin, and warm, meaning you have a golden undertone to your skin, with neutral falling somewhere in the middle.

2. Determine Overall Contrast

This may sound complicated, but it is actually quite simple: do your features all fit on one side of the color wheel, or do they pull from opposite sides of the color wheel? For example, if you have very dark hair and very light skin and eyes, you have high contrast features. If you have similar hair and skin colors, you have low contrast features.

So you’ve got your undertone and level of contrast determined, now you can figure out your color season:

Summer

Summers usually have a cool undertone and a low contrast between their features. They look best in soft, but bright, colors. Think baby pink, dusty rose, sea blue, and light grass green.

Spring

Springs have a warm undertone and low contrast between their features. They look best in light and warm colors such as coral, teal, light blue, and soft yellow.

Autumn

Autumns, similar to Springs, have warm undertones and a low contrast between features; however, they differ in that their features are often deeper and richer than the bright and light airiness of Springs. Autumns look great in brick reds, dark greens, deep blues, and terracotta oranges.

Winters

Winters are cool-toned, but very high contrast. Winters look best in deep and bright jewel tones. Think emerald green, sapphire blue, and rose red.

Having an idea of your color season doesn’t just help you to understand what clothing to wear, but it can influence all of your beauty choices. Still confused about your season? Think of a public figure or celebrity with a similar coloring to you and see which outfits you like the best on them. And don’t feel boxed in by this! It is simply a tool to add your overall beauty and fashion routine to help you feel and look your best.

When you embrace your color season, you are able to shop with a sharper eye: maybe every shade of green won’t work with your coloring, but you now know which one absolutely will. Seasonal color analysis takes a lot of the guesswork out of shopping.

Be Bold, Be You

So what have we learned? To trust your own eye, use color analysis tools, and pair bold colors with a neutral or in a pattern. Working bold colors into your wardrobe can be fun and simple when you embrace tools to help you pick the right colors, and your own confidence to totally own what you wear! Have fun with bold clothing, play around with something new, and embrace your personal style and what makes you totally unique.

Other than hospital operations, healthcare software technology is transforming the delivery and coordination of care. Hospital Management Systems in Healthcare use the hospital’s processes to optimize, streamline patient management, and achieve maximum precision in data. Hospital software applications are now advanced, automating administrative and clinical processes, ensuring hospital environments are integrated and more efficient.

A sophisticated Hospital Management System offers real-time access to patient information, resource utilization, and performance metrics to enable hospitals to operate effectively with world-class quality care and regulatory conformance.

Understanding Hospital Management Systems

Hospital Management Systems in Healthcare are comprehensive computerized systems that automate, combine, and simplify day-to-day hospital and clinic operations. They ensure smooth interdepartmental coordination, minimize paperwork, and improve decision-making through real-time data at their command. From patient registration to discharge, billing, diagnosis, and inventory control, everything is done conveniently through a single interface.

Hospital software management not only mechanizes administrative efficiency but also enhances clinical processes to deliver enhanced patient care, reduced wait time, and best possible resource utilization. Integrated with inherent capabilities like Electronic Medical Records (EMR), scheduling, and integration with the pharmacy, these systems reengineer healthcare center operations.

Hospital Management Software is growing at a tremendous rate in India because of the need for healthcare digitalization. Solutions are being adopted by hospitals in urban as well as rural areas of the nation to augment care provision and stay in sync with the paradigms of healthcare legislation. Extremely scalable and flexible, modern HMS platforms are custom-made to address the exact requirements of small clinics to multi-specialty group hospitals.

Overall, Hospital Management Systems form the backbone of the digital health toolkit. By providing transparency, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making, they form the backbone behind streamlining in-hospital operations and providing improved patient and operational outcomes.

Core Functions of a Modern Hospital Management System

A Hospital Management System Software seeks to consolidate all hospital processes under one umbrella and automate them in such a way that healthcare delivery is improved and patient-centered. There are integrated current systems plus several core functions that enable administrative and clinical operations.

1. Patient Registration and Electronic Health Records (EHR):

New hospital computer systems begin from registering patients and possessing accurate, sharable Electronic Health Records. That provides easy access to patient history, laboratory test results, medications, and treatment plans across facilities.

2. Appointment and Scheduling Management:

Appointment and Scheduling Modules significantly cut down patient waiting times and physician time and resource utilization. This maximizes patient satisfaction and surgical planning.

3. Billing and Insurance Processing:

Billing Modules integrated control all billing, insurance claim, and payment issues accurately and transparently and minimize manual errors and revenue loss.

4. Pharmacy and Inventory Control:

The system stores the amount of medications, their expiration dates, and sources. The alerts provide maximum inventory levels and stock out disaster avoidance.

5. Laboratory and Radiology Management

HMS facilitates laboratory and radiology processes from reporting results to ordering, avoiding delays and improving diagnostic accuracy.

6. Data Security and Compliance:

Leading hospital software providers ensure their solutions comply with medical data safety regulations, protecting patient data and regulation adherence.

Benefits of Hospital Software Systems

Hospital software systems, once installed, confer a massive advantage on administrative and clinical operations within health facilities. They help to automate activities, reduce errors, and foster an organization culture that is patient-centered.

The biggest advantage is increased efficiency. Allowing for automatic operations like patient registration, appointment scheduling, billing, and discharge allows the hospitals to reduce errors and paperwork. This translates to saving patient and staff time with efficient day-to-day practices.

Improved data management is another advantage. Centralized databases provide physicians with immediate patient data, medical history, and treatment status in front of them. This facilitates rapid decision-making and coordinated interdepartmental care.

Hospital software management also facilitates effective hospital financial management. Integrated insurance processing, inventory, and billing facilitate clear and accurate transactions, which halt revenue leakage and enhance financial planning.

Security and compliance are also improved. The online hospital management system secures the information and makes it available only to licensed staff members for enabling healthcare professionals to comply with data privacy acts.

There is a more and more pressing need for digital health in India. The most sophisticated hospital software on offer today in India is scalable and configurable, appropriate for small clinics to big multi-specialty hospitals, multi-language support, user-friendly interfaces, and cloud-based accessibility.

The Healthcare Software Technology of the Future

The future of health is an intelligent, connected, and automated health system that improves patient care and drives business performance. Hospital software administration is being revolutionized at a very rapid pace with the implementation of technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cloud computing, and Internet of Things (IoT). These emerging technologies will rewire hospital operations to be predictive, personalized, and efficient.

Artificial intelligence decision support systems will help doctors with faster and more accurate disease diagnosis by reviewing patient histories, test results, and global health data patterns. Hospital networks will feature wearables and remote monitoring offering real-time feedback on patients’ health to give anticipatory care.

Hospital management software in the cloud will make off-site access to information possible, enhancing site and departmental coordination. Telemedicine facilitated by secure software platforms will help increase specialist care access, especially in rural markets with decreased access to care.

The highest benefit of future hospital management systems will be more patient engagement. With the use of patient portals and smartphones by patients, patients can become proactively engaged in their care process—reviewing reports, booking appointments, and receiving real-time messages.

In summary, the future of healthcare software technology is smarter, more integrated, and secure systems of care. It makes the hospitals flexible, scalable, and better positioned to handle the rising demands of healthcare today.

Conclusion

In all, in-hospital workflows are reengineered by the application of healthcare software technology leading to increased efficiency, accuracy, and patient satisfaction. Hospital software applications implement clinical and administrative processes to facilitate intelligent decision-making and improved outcomes. From simple access to information to better management of resources, the impact is revolutionary. Hospital Management System Software implementation is not a choice—it’s the key to delivering high-quality, technology-enabled care in today’s fast-paced health environment.
