An Everything Shower – The Shower Routine For Ultimate Cleanliness

Showering is simple enough, right? When you are a high-maintenance individual who likes to feel their cleanest, an Everything Shower once a week is non-negotiable. The term ‘Everything Shower’ has been circulating the internet recently, and many have related to the intricate routine of cleaning and moisturising every inch of your body. On the face of things, an Everything Shower seems excessive. It can however leave you feeling extra clean, which can ultimately improve your mental and wellbeing.

Unlike a relaxing bath, an Everything Shower requires a 9-step process, sometimes more for people who have added their exotic twist onto this polished routine. It takes time, the right tools, and most importantly patience to get through each step and complete the process. If you want to know what it takes to have the most scrubbed shower of your life, take a look at the 9 steps you need to follow:

Step 1 – Cleanse

First things first, the beginning of everything shower starts with your face. Cleaning your face and removing any makeup and excess oils is important, especially when it can be the dirtiest area of your body. Our faces are exposed to weather conditions, dirt and other people at all times, therefore it is crucial to have your face cleaned sufficiently. Double cleansing is recommended, especially for people with acne-prone skin. Use your favourite cleaner to remove all the dirt from your face, and repeat this a second time just to make sure everything is gone.

Step 2 – Hair Mask / Face Mask

Next, it is time for your face mask and hair masks. Now your face is well-cleaned, find a face mask that is suited to your skin types and concerns. For example, you might opt for a vitamin C face mask to brighten your face. Once you have your facemask, it is time for a little hair care. Hair masks are amazing at locking in moisture and making sure our damaged ends are taken care of. Slightly wet your hair, and apply a specific hair mask suitable for your hair type. At this stage, you might also consider an oil hair mask as this is also proven to support hair growth.

Step 3 – Dry Brush

Whilst you are allowing the hair masks and face masks to settle into your skin, it is time for some dry brushing. Dry brushing is great for increasing blood circulation in your body, keeping your skin smooth, and also reducing the appearance of cellulite. This dry bristled brush will buff the skin, whilst preparing it for the rest of the intricate everything shower process.

Step 4 – Hair Wash / Condition

Once you have allowed at least an hour for your hair and face mask to settle in, it’s time for you to wash and condition your hair. Washing your hair with your favourite shampoo, and making sure that each section is thoroughly scrubbed is key here. Repeating the shampooing process also allows the properties of the shampoo to work into your hair once it is cleaned. Once you condition your hair, leave this in whilst you complete the rest of the in-shower process. This will ensure your hair is silky smooth and the conditioner can work its magic.

Step 5 – Body Exfoliate

As you have prepared your skin earlier with the dry brushing, your skin will now be ready for deep exfoliation. Grab an exfoliating scrub that is safe on the skin, and begin to work this into all areas of your body. Although our skin naturally sheds, manually exfoliating gives that extra skin glow that we need when we have not been exposed to sunlight for some time.

Step 6 – Shower Cream

Next, getting a good shower cream is recommended after you have carried out deep exfoliation. This will not only clean your body, but it will act as an initial moisture barrier that your skin will be lacking.

Step 7 – Shave

Now your body is clean, it is time to shave. Make sure you are using a clean razor, and use your preferred lubricant such as shaving cream or shower gel to work your way around your body. This step is not essential, but it certainly feels good once you are out of the shower. Rise your body off, and also wash your conditioner out once this is complete.

Step 8 – Body Oil / Moisturizer

Now you have finished the in-shower process, it is time for the final steps. As your skin has just been scrubbed off dead skin cells, you will need to deeply moisturise your body. Start with your fragrance-free moisturisers. Coat your body, and allow a few minutes for this to seep into the skin. Next, apply oil such as Bio oil, as this will be an extra layer of moisture, it is also proven to remove any blemishes on the skin over time.

Step 9 – Leave in Hair Conditioner

Last but certainly not least, apply some leave-in conditioner to your still-wet hair. Leave-in conditioner can repair any damage that your hair has faced, whilst also achieving a long-lasting silky feeling.

Bottom Line

Overall, an Everything Shower is a great way to give your body, skin and hair the TLC it deserves. Consider doing this routine on a Thursday night to make sure you look refreshed in your going out dresses over the weekend or simply add it to your Sunday reset routine for a fresh start to the week!
